Holy HELL
Got an email from my Graphic Design ll professor for next semester.

"As described in the course outline, our first project will be a branding program for either an electronics company OR an xtreme sports equipment company OR a tourism bureau OR an airlines."

ELECTRONICS?????
XTREME SPORTS?????????????
TOURISM???
FLIPPING AIRLINES??

Is it just me or does this shit sound BORING. AS.FUCK TO ANYONE FEMALE? Omfg. Its like this class is for guys only lol. Its like....theres at least ONE thing in there that guys can get really excited about, the sports, shouldnt there be just ONE thing for girls? UGH     T_____T

Not every, but the majority I think lol
Those things are just really unispiring to me though Im leaning towards airlines coz that has the most potential for me. All my professors say that they cant stand desiging for electronics and software companies lol

It may be boring but...it's realistic. Graphic design consists of 99.9% doing boring stuff for boring companies (and often trying to explain 'copyright' to them and why you can't just make their new logo look 'just like' so-n-so's logo, etc).

I know I know it is. I wish I could do nothing but cupcake shop logos but electronics and shit are the reality....though personally Im prolly going to be working in packaging design for food and drinks XD

unfortunately, [info]merrycalliope is right. it is realistic.
though, i understand, it is somewhat male-centric. i would find those things terribly boring too.

Well, since you feel this way maybe you should take this project as a challenge!! All these products/services have been done to death from the male PoV, so that means it's up to you to come up with a more balanced and/or female-friendly approach. It would certainly force you to think original and "outside the box".

the only thing I can think of is to choose airlines, and then come up with something cute that could be considered "family friendly"? cuz there are some pretty cute japanese airlines :D
